Change your start page to something more useful.\u00a0 For many years I used a custom page that I created.\u00a0 A late version of it can be found here<\/a>.\u00a0 This page has every “normal” thing I do listed with\u00a0a link.\u00a0 I can check my web mail, login to Blackboard, view the news and go to my favorite pages.\u00a0 There is even a Google search at the top.\u00a0 Ten years ago<\/a>, my start page used Alta Vista<\/a> as the search engine.\u00a0 Times change.<\/p>\nNow I use Protopage<\/a> as my start page.\u00a0 Protopage overcomes the main problem I had with my original start page – ease of change.\u00a0 My old page required me to edit the HTML of the page.\u00a0\u00a0That almost always involved FTP’ing the file as well.\u00a0 It was difficult enough that I didn’t add temporary links like I do now.\u00a0 Just today I added three links to my Protopage.\u00a0 I put them in the “test” window.\u00a0 This is where potentially useful things\u00a0go until I can decide if I really will use them often.\u00a0 If I use the link enough,\u00a0I will keep it.\u00a0 Otherwise, I will remove it.\u00a0<\/p>\n TSPY=4.00<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Depending on where you bought your computer, it probably came with a browser that starts at a corporate web site – Dell – Apple – Gateway.\u00a0 The first thing you probably do when you get to this page is go … Continue reading
