{"id":277,"date":"2007-06-23T07:16:00","date_gmt":"2007-06-23T12:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trustyetc.com\/trustyblog\/2007\/06\/23\/efficiency-tip-60-start-letter\/"},"modified":"2015-05-14T09:13:15","modified_gmt":"2015-05-14T14:13:15","slug":"efficiency-tip-60-start-letter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trustyetc.com\/trustyblog\/2007\/06\/23\/efficiency-tip-60-start-letter\/","title":{"rendered":"Efficiency Tip #60 &#8211; Start Letter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" width=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/21\/32259290_b6af849b10_m.jpg\" height=\"200\" style=\"width: 240px; height: 200px\" \/>I have talked about using the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.trustyetc.com\/trustyblog\/2007\/05\/31\/efficiency-tip-38-pin-things\/\">Pin Area<\/a> to gain quick access to programs used often.\u00a0 If you find that certain programs are used more often, use the &#8220;letter&#8221; shortcut to open the program faster.<\/p>\n<p>I use Eudora for my email.\u00a0 Eudora (starting with the letter E) is in my pinned area.\u00a0 To open Eudora, I press\u00a0the Windows Key\u00a0(don&#8217;t hold it down) and then E.\u00a0 Eudora opens.<\/p>\n<p>Eudora happens to be the only program in my Start menu that begins with the letter E.\u00a0 If I press W instead of E, I high-light Word in the start menu, but Word does not\u00a0open.\u00a0 This is because WinSCP is another program in my start menu and it also starts with W.\u00a0 You can still use this shortcut with multiple W&#8217;s in the Start menu.\u00a0 Simply press Enter as soon as the correct program is high-lighted.\u00a0 For me it works like this.<\/p>\n<p>Windows Key, W, Enter &#8211; starts Word<br \/>\nWindows Key, W, W, Enter &#8211; starts WinSCP<\/p>\n<p>If you find yourself using the mouse all the time on the pinned list, try the keyboard shortcut.\u00a0 It will save you time.<\/p>\n<p>TSPY=1.34<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have talked about using the Pin Area to gain quick access to programs used often.\u00a0 If you find that certain programs are used more often, use the &#8220;letter&#8221; shortcut to open the program faster.
