Deleting a file can take a while.<\/p>\n

1 – Select the file.
\n2 – Delete the file.
\n3 – Yes – I do want to delete the file.
\n4 – Right-click the Trash can and select Empty Recycle Bin
\n5 – Yes – I am sure I want to empty the Recycle Bin<\/p>\n

Here is a way to avoid steps four and five.\u00a0 At step two press Shift-Delete.\u00a0 You will get the “are you sure” message at number three, but the file skips the recycle bin and is gone for good.<\/p>\n

Be cautious when you use this shortcut.\u00a0 Sometimes the recycle bin can be a nice safety net for files that are accidentally erased.\u00a0 At other times it is painful extra step.\u00a0 To get your file back after a Shift-Delete, you will need a disk utility.\u00a0<\/p>\n
