{"id":343,"date":"2007-07-30T21:55:35","date_gmt":"2007-07-31T02:55:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trustyetc.com\/trustyblog\/2007\/07\/30\/efficiency-tip-97-vnc\/"},"modified":"2015-05-14T09:12:27","modified_gmt":"2015-05-14T14:12:27","slug":"efficiency-tip-97-vnc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trustyetc.com\/trustyblog\/2007\/07\/30\/efficiency-tip-97-vnc\/","title":{"rendered":"Efficiency Tip #97 &#8211; VNC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" width=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/1\/110584_1fba0335eb_m.jpg\" height=\"180\" style=\"width: 240px; height: 180px\" \/>I have several computers that have no monitors.\u00a0 These are machines that do basic tasks for my network: firewall, backups, video streaming, etc.\u00a0 I use a free program called <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.realvnc.com\/\">VNC<\/a> to remotely connect to those machines.<\/p>\n<p>With VNC, I can actually connect to the remote computer and use it as if I were sitting right at the remote keyboard and mouse.\u00a0 Everything looks and works exactly the same.<\/p>\n<p>I also have several other computers that do have monitors.\u00a0 Those machines also run VNC.\u00a0 It saves me from running around the house checking things on each computer.\u00a0 I can do everything from one computer.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think my wife likes it when she says, &#8220;come and look at this&#8221; and I press three keys and remotely connect to her computer.\u00a0 It does save wear and tear on the carpet.<\/p>\n<p>If you have kids, this is also a great way to monitor what they do online.\u00a0 Over the years I have found that kids that know they are being watched tend to stay out of trouble on their own.<\/p>\n<p>TSPY=3.14<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have several computers that have no monitors.\u00a0 These are machines that do basic tasks for my network: firewall, backups, video streaming, etc.\u00a0 I use a free program called VNC to remotely connect to those machines.
