Yes, we got one<\/a>.\u00a0 I waited until the Christmas\/Valentines\/St Patrick’s\/Memorial Day\/Fourth of July\u00a0rush was over.\u00a0 And then I still couldn’t find one.<\/p>\n

Finally, the stars aligned and my local GameStop had one.\u00a0 They had a dozen.\u00a0 I was there a few hours after they were delivered.\u00a0 I got the last one.<\/p>\n

If you haven’t seen the latest console from Nintendo<\/a>, it is a technological marvel.\u00a0 It’s not much\u00a0bigger than an external DVD burner.\u00a0 The remote is wireless so you can play from anywhere in the room.\u00a0 It comes with Wii Sports which includes: Bowling, Tennis, Baseball, Golf and Boxing.\u00a0 Best of all, at $250\u00a0it is\u00a0about half the price of a PS3 or XBox 360.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Wii Remote (Wiimote<\/a>)\u00a0creates the additive play.\u00a0 You literally have to stand up to use it.\u00a0 This is because the Wiimote has sensors that detect how you move it.\u00a0 It can tell if you are swinging, twisting or poking.\u00a0 This means Wii\u00a0Bowling is pretty much like real bowling.\u00a0 You want to hook it?\u00a0 Do a little wrist snap when you release.\u00a0 If you want to throw the ball harder then speed up your delivery.\u00a0 Just don’t release the ball too late or you’ll loft it.\u00a0 A wrist\u00a0strap prevents you from launching the Wiimote into your TV.<\/p>\n

I have never seen a console that\u00a0is\u00a0this natural to understand.\u00a0 All the games play just as you think they would play.<\/p>\n

The Wii comes with a wireless NIC that handles WPA.\u00a0 I connected it to my network and started up the Weather program.\u00a0 I typed in my zip code and got the local time and temperature with a five day forecast. I can easily do the same on my computer, but then I zoomed out a little so I could see the whole Earth. The pointer looks like a hand. I grabbed the Earth and gave it a spin. As it went around I could see the weather reports from every continent. It was fun to see the weather like this.<\/p>\n

There is a web browser (Opera<\/a>) for the Wii.\u00a0 I haven’t downloaded it yet, but I’m sure I will.\u00a0 This might be the easiest way to get YouTube videos onto my TV.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
