{"id":362,"date":"2007-08-13T22:45:29","date_gmt":"2007-08-14T03:45:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trustyetc.com\/trustyblog\/2007\/08\/13\/the-last-straw\/"},"modified":"2007-08-15T20:22:28","modified_gmt":"2007-08-16T01:22:28","slug":"the-last-straw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trustyetc.com\/trustyblog\/2007\/08\/13\/the-last-straw\/","title":{"rendered":"The Last Straw"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we ventured out on a trip to Indianapolis.\u00a0 Knowing the rest of the family would not want to get side tracked by my never-ending search for historical markers I did\u00a0some extra planning ahead of time.\u00a0 Everyone agreed that we would not go more than two miles from the Interstate taking us to our ultimate destination.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t a problem, but I had to settle for markers that were well defined on the OHS site.\u00a0 I found four with actual street addresses.<\/p>\n<p>Piqua &#8211; Lock Nine<br \/>\nTroy &#8211; Junior Girls Canteen, 1943-1946<br \/>\nTroy &#8211; Overfield Tavern<br \/>\nTipp City &#8211; Miami and Erie Canal Lock 15<\/p>\n<p>All four were close to the Interstate.\u00a0 We stopped at the first in Piqua.\u00a0 We snapped a couple of pictures and were back on the highway.\u00a0 The next stop was Troy.\u00a0 I had two addresses there.<\/p>\n<p>121 E Water St was suppose to be Overfield Tavern.\u00a0 It was a museum with no marker.\u00a0 It\u00a0is also closed on Monday so we could not ask for help.\u00a0 We went around the block a couple of times looking for the marker, but found none.<\/p>\n<p>We headed over to 100 E. West Street.\u00a0 This took us through the historic downtown.\u00a0 There were (non-OHS) signs everywhere designating historic locations.\u00a0 We enjoyed the ride.\u00a0 A few blocks later we were on West Street.\u00a0 We saw 26 on the first block and then 102 and 104 on the second block.\u00a0 There is no 100 on East West Street.\u00a0 We did the &#8220;around the block&#8221; thing again.\u00a0 Nothing.\u00a0 Judging from the picture on the OHS website, this marker is in or near a park.\u00a0 There was no park on E. West Street in Troy.<\/p>\n<p>We headed to Tipp City.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trustyetc.com\/trustyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/img_1405.JPG\" alt=\"img_1405.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Lock 15 marker was suppose to be at 325 E.
