Since my podcast last week, I have become much more interested in geotagging (thanks John<\/a>). \u00a0I have added a few pictures of the UF campus to the Flickr map:<\/p>\n

Search for \u201cFindlay\u201d and click on the biggest dot. \u00a0Refine the search to \u201cUniversity of Findlay\u201d and you will see the pictures I took on campus yesterday.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow is the last day of class before spring break. \u00a0I wanted to do something with my students using geotagging during spring break. \u00a0After lunch yesterday, while Dr Dyer (of the now famous – If class were like a chat<\/a>) chauffeured me and my camera around campus, we passed this.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an Ohio historical marker.\u00a0 There are thousands of them around Ohio. \u00a0The main web site for information about the markers is<\/p>\n

I had an idea.\u00a0 My students will be traveling home this weekend. \u00a0They live all over Ohio.\u00a0 They could take pictures of historical markers and geotag the locations. \u00a0We couldn\u2019t find a project like this on the web.\u00a0 The above URL lets you see a map for the individual marker of your choice, but there isn\u2019t a statewide map that shows every marker on one screen. \u00a0Using Flickr and the tag \u201cremarkableohio\u201d, we plan to geotag as many of these markers as possible next week. \u00a0If you have a marker nearby, take a picture and tag it with our selected tag: remarkableohio and put it on the map in Flicker.<\/p>\n

When we are finished, you will be able to go to<\/p>\n
