I don’t play a lot of games.\u00a0 When I do, I get way too involved, and before I know it, a whole day goes by.\u00a0 That’s why I don’t play a lot of games.<\/p>\n
This week is spring break.\u00a0 That means I have some free time.\u00a0 Last week, Supreme Commander hit the market (trailer<\/a>).\u00a0 SupCom is the long awaited sequel to Total Annihilation (Cavedog – 1997<\/a>).\u00a0 These are RTS<\/a>\u00a0games.\u00a0 If you are unfamiliar with RTS games, think of Risk<\/a>\u00a0but without turns.\u00a0 Everything happens in real time.\u00a0 Both players can move at the same time.<\/p>\n TA was so great.\u00a0 It’s still my favorite RTS game ten years after its release.\u00a0 SupCom takes everything TA does, and adds to it.\u00a0 All the same shortcut keys work.\u00a0 The graphics are stunning and the game play just as intense as with TA.\u00a0 There are more advanced units and the limit is now 1000 units per team.<\/p>\n It has taken me three days to beat the computer at the “normal” level.<\/p>\n To get the full experience, you’ll need a fairly advanced machine.\u00a0 I have a 3.2 Ghz machine with a GeForce 7900 and it gets bogged down once three or four hundred units are on the screen.<\/p>\n I haven’t played head-to-head yet.\u00a0 I will probably hold off on that until Easter break.\u00a0 By then I should know enough to keep from being embarrassed.<\/p>\n If you are interested in a match, let me know.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I don’t play a lot of games.\u00a0 When I do, I get way too involved, and before I know it, a whole day goes by.\u00a0 That’s why I don’t play a lot of games.
